Call 112 for violence or danger happening now, a serious accident with injuries, a missing person at immediate risk, fire, rescue or any direct threat to life or property. Do not travel to a station first when urgent help must come to you.

Report assault, threats, harassment, theft, burglary, fraud or suspicious behaviour. Use 112 if the incident is happening now or anyone is in danger.
Police can record a report and provide a reference number that may be needed by your travel insurer, bank, embassy or passport authority. A report does not guarantee recovery.
They can attend serious collisions, manage immediate safety and record relevant details. Call 112 for injuries or danger. For a minor incident without injuries, contact a station or the non emergency line.
Report a missing child, vulnerable adult or anyone believed to be at immediate risk without delay. Provide a recent photograph, description, last known location and medical or safety concerns.
Police can receive reports, assess immediate danger and connect victims with specialist services. Call 112 if it is unsafe to wait or to travel to a station.
Ask for the report or reference details you are entitled to receive and record the station, date and officer information provided. Requirements differ between insurers and consular authorities.
Police cannot settle ordinary customer service disputes, provide legal representation, guarantee compensation, replace travel insurance or give a visitor immunity from Maltese law.
Medical concerns, lost travel documents, accommodation complaints and civil disputes may also require a hospital, insurer, embassy, booking provider, lawyer or another public authority.
Explain what happened in chronological order. Separate what you personally saw or heard from what somebody else told you, and avoid exaggeration or assumptions.
Take your passport, national identity card or residence document where safely available. For a lost passport, bring any copy or photograph you have and contact your consular representative.
Keep photographs, messages, receipts, booking details, vehicle information and names of witnesses. Do not edit original files or put yourself at risk to collect evidence.
Politely ask for a question or procedure to be explained again. If communication is difficult, tell the officer which language you speak and ask what interpretation arrangements may be available.
Remain respectful, do not obstruct officers or enter restricted areas, and follow safety directions at collisions, public events and active incidents.
Write down the report number, station, date and any later instructions. Use the reference when speaking with police again, your insurer or your consulate.
For a non emergency incident that has already happened and presents no immediate threat, Malta Police offers a remote reporting service. You can arrange a callback by video or telephone, provide supporting documents and receive a police report number and digital copy.
File a remote police report → Official Gozo police information →Information checked against the Malta Police Force’s official Gozo district and emergency service pages on 23 July 2026. Station availability, telephone numbers, reporting procedures and services can change, and an officer will decide the appropriate response under Maltese law.
